Automatic placement of hosts in Worldmap
Please add functionality so that Worldmaps so that hosts/services can be placed on the map automatically based on host attributes
The world map is a good tool but each host/service has to be placed manually on the map. It would be better if hosts/services can be selected by filtering and automatically placed in the correct place on the map.
Geomaps already have this functionality and places hosts/services on the map automatically, but in Worldmaps the long/lat is defined when the host/service is manually placed on the map.

Mohamed Saleh AdminHi Arvid,
Thank you for posting on our Ideas Portal!
We understand what the requested feature is about, but would like to better understand your use case and how you are using this feature. For example, what is your current process for adding hosts or services to the map, do you do it manually one by one or rather do it in groups? Any insights or additional context will be useful for when considering the idea.
Warm regards,
Your Checkmk Team -

Arvid CarlanderI am building a monitoring solution that will cover several thousand small installations with only one or two hosts on each. The customer has a CMDB which we integrate with using the checkmk API to create all hosts. The CMDB holds all the hosts and their lat/long, and when we create hosts we also use custom attributes to record the lat/long.
The customer needs two types of topology views. One type is relatively static and provides a consolidated overview of core elements in the network with summarised status for different regions. This type of topology diagram is static and represented on logical rather than geographical maps so it can be configured manually. The other type is a geographical map where each individual installation can be found and the user can zoom and pan. For this type of topology view we need to position each installation automatically on the geographical map as there are too many devices to do it manually. Additions and deletions should also be automatic.
