Allow users who are not hosts contacts to see the state of the host
We are using assignment of service to contacts heavily, due to complex setup and large installation. However his means that all build-in dashboard that shows the host state shows 0 hosts for users who are not host contacts (only services). This makes it harder for the end users (who have certain services assigned) to see if the whole host is down or not.
We have a workaround for this as we assign PING/ICMP to all hosts, but we can't use the nice "octagon" host state for this. We would like to allow the "Host statistic" plugin to be based on the ICMP service and not the (I assume) "Check MK" service.

Marcel Arentz AdminDid you consider this chapter in the docs: https://docs.checkmk.com/latest/en/wato_user.html#visibility_host ? If so, it may be the case, that your suggestion is not clear enough (at least for myself). I can edit/extend the suggestion, if needed.

Lars Sörensen@Marcel
If a User is not directly assigned to a server he won't see the host in views, dashboards, hostgroups and quicksearch. Adding the User as a contact to the Host is not allways an Option. A contact of a service should at least be able to see minimal information like hostname and state in views and dashboards and the Quicksearch.

AndyYes @lars that's exactly my problem, and sorry for seeing now that there was already one feature request for this.
