Checkmk site (server) should run on ARM
The Checkmk server should be able to run on ARM-based platforms like Raspberry and similar.

Bastian KuhnWould also support running CMK in an ARM Linux VM, using on Apple Silicon to develop. So, Developers can switch to the new Macs :)

AngeloI would be nice to have ARM support to monitor small offices without spending much money for hardware.

PauloThis feature would be perfect for several small environments. For example it would be possible to create a small CheckMK box that could monitor a small datacenter and show it's data in a TV connected to itself. I'm really looking for that.

DanielNot only for raspberry, many cloud provider use arm as possible server architecture. Like hetzner. Its a huge price difference between x86 and arm.

Martin Hirschvogel AdminWe have internally split the whole topic into three sub-tasks. Read more about this here: https://checkmk.com/blog/checkmk-our-road-arm-support

We will accordingly create a new 'status' to deal with this suggestion (and a couple of others as well). -

I believe that the best scenario of arm usage is the deployment using Raspberry Pi. -

Martin Hirschvogel AdminYes, we are aware of this.

We have to guarantee function safe operation in enterprise environment. The reliability of a monitoring system and the state calculation is something where we can not make any compromises. The mentioned project does not include necessary changes to livestatus, thus use at your own risk.
If you use this for your home lab or a non-critical environment, I think this is a great project. I just wouldn't use it in an enterprise environment -

Martin Hirschvogel AdminI split the agent controller port for ARM from this ticket and adapted the title and description to make clear that this idea is solely for a Checkmk site (a.k.a server) to be officially supported on ARM.

SebastianAs the mentioned community fork with ARM support on GitHub is no longer develop in favor of the official ARM support, I'd like to know if there is any timeline for this? When can we probably expect a first alpha/beta version working on ARM servers?

Thanks for the effort. -

Mohamed Saleh AdminHi Sebastian,
We currently have no decision yet with regards to this topic, and therefore can not provide any timeline at this point. We'll certainly keep you posted with any new developments once we have more information.
All the best,

Ashleyarm64 is more performant than amd64 and the arm64 instances on AWS are significantly cheaper than the amd64 ones. I am currently migrating all of my amd64 EC2 instances to arm64 and have 2 x CheckMK server instances that need to be migrated, but lack of arm64 packages for CheckMK server is blocking me from doing so.
